24mm, Maximum aperture: f/1.4, Filter diameter: 77mm / [AFS24F14G] AFS24F14G Released March 2010
This large-aperture wide-angle lens features a 24mm focal length (in FX format) and a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture. It's perfect for capturing architectural and landscape shots, as well as small indoor spaces, taking advantage of the dynamic perspective unique to wide-angle lenses. When mounted on a DX-format SLR camera, it functions as an f/1.4 lens, equivalent to a 36mm focal length in 35mm format, making it ideal for snapshots and other purposes. The lens boasts a bright f/1.4 aperture and a nine-blade circular aperture, enabling beautiful, large bokeh effects despite being a wide-angle lens. The bright f/1.4 aperture is also ideal for handheld shooting in dimly lit indoor spaces or at dusk. The minimum focusing distance of 0.25m allows you to get close to your subject for wide-angle macro-style close-ups. The new optical design, incorporating two ED lens elements and two aspherical lens elements, delivers high resolution and excellent aberration balance, effectively correcting color bleeding, distortion, and spherical aberration while maintaining sharp resolution all the way to the edges of the image. Nano Crystal Coat effectively reduces ghosting and flare. Nano Crystal Coat provides exceptional anti-reflection performance across the entire visible light spectrum, reducing ghosting and flare in backlit situations. It also effectively reduces ghosting caused by red light, which is difficult to reduce with conventional coatings, allowing you to consistently capture clear images that take advantage of the lens's resolving power.
SWM (Ultrasonic Motor) for Quiet AF: Equipped with an SWM (Ultrasonic Motor) for quiet and smooth AF. Furthermore, the RF system, which focuses by slightly moving the small rear lens group of the multiple-component lens system, also achieves high-speed AF. Two focus modes are available: "M/A" and "M." "M/A" allows for quick manual focus adjustment even during autofocus. Speedy focus control according to your shooting intent. Natalie U. ★★★★★

The focus ring has a smooth, damped feel that makes manual adjustments a pleasure, and even wide open at f/1.4 the center sharpness is impressive for a lens from 2010. I’m getting beautiful background separation in tight urban shots.

Riley ★★★★★

I’ve been shooting with this 24mm f/1.4 for a few weeks now and the bokeh at wide open is just gorgeous, even on the FX body it stays sharp in the middle. The used copy I got feels solid, no wobble, and the 77mm front element is a bit heavy but worth it for that creamy low-light look.

Steven ★★★★★

The 77mm filter thread means I can share filters with my other lenses, which is a nice bonus. Even pre-owned, the f/1.4 aperture lets in so much light that I’m shooting handheld in places where I used to need a tripod.
