The Nano AR coating does a great job cutting flare even wide open, and the internal focus keeps the barrel steady while I shoot. Sharpness holds up nicely across the aperture range, though it's a bit hefty for hiking—but for the price I paid pre-owned, it's absolutely worth it.

The autofocus is so quiet and quick I almost forgot it was a linear motor until I shot a bird in flight. Even wide open at 300mm, the Nano AR coating keeps flare under control in harsh light, and mine came in flawless condition for a used lens.

I picked this up pre-owned and wasn't sure what to expect, but the autofocus is surprisingly snappy and quiet for a telephoto zoom. The internal focus design keeps the lens from extending, which is a big plus for stability. Really happy with the image quality at 300mm, even wide open.
